Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance
Besides being an international concert pianist Elena is an inspiring, compassionate and committed educator.
She is a Professor of Piano at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and also has a regular residence at Jackdaws Music Education Trust besides giving numerous lectures and masterclasses all over the world including Dartington International Summer School, EPTA, Bath Spa University, Highgate School, Vale of Glamorgan Festival and many others.
Elena also holds regular Piano courses at her North London home and also teaches privately and enjoys working with advanced pianists as well as young musicians and amateurs.
Her teachers have included Joseph Weingarten, Vlado Perlemuter, Roger Vignoles and Maria Curcio.
Her vision and openness has led to many rewarding and lively projects which have contributed to the surprise and enjoyment of all kinds music making by children, young adults and adults alike.
Performance Related Anxiety, Tension and Muscular Skeletal Disorders
Elena is unique in that she also holds professional qualifications as a Yoga teacher. She has just led an 8 week pilot study on the benefits of Yoga and Mindfulness for Performance Related Anxiety and Muscular Skeletal Disorders for the Keyboard Department at Trinity Laban funded by the Teaching and Learning Unit, Musical Impact: Better Practice and the Keyboard Department.
There is extensive research on the positive impact which that Yoga and Mindfulness can have on stress and Elena is now available for one- to-one as well as group and workshop consultations regarding tension, PRA and MD's ( place see testimonials in the Yoga page)
Elena Has a wide-ranging repertoire with an interest in contemporary and Hispano American repertoire (including Baroque) and has premiered, commissioned and edited around 50 new pieces for solo piano from composers as wide ranging as Sir John Tavener, Arvo Part, Peter Sculthorpe, Tania Leon, Elena Kats-Chernin, Ricardo Lorenz, Douglas Finch and many others. She has published two volumes of piano music with Boosey and Hawkes which she commissioned, edited, recorded and premiered. She has been the recipient of many awards including two Arts Council Awards for All.
Elena appears frequently as a jury member for international competitions such as the 2016 BBC Young Musician of the Year and the Newport International Piano Competition.
